About us

This is named after the 18th-century poet and landscape gardener buried in St John’s Church churchyard, opposite. William Shenstone was also involved in local affairs – the Halesowen Free School (where he was educated) benefited from his efforts; so did St John’s church, for which he worked hard to raise money for additional church bells.

Helping a friend with a catering event locally and visited The Shenstone each day for 3 days before going on. The service was really god with all members of staff being extremely efficient, polite and friendly. The food I ordered was standard fayre but enjoyable. Thanks to the team.

It's a Wetherspoons, it does what it says on the box. Decent food prices. The breakfast was tasty. I particularly liked the fresh fruit salad and the endless top ups of hot drinks. I also liked the art and history on the walls so this Wetherspoons had an interesting theme.

I'm not a fan of Witherspoons in general terms but we met family there for an evening meal. Food was served promptly and piping hot. We had a good evening and I was surprised to see so many men drinking on their own in here. Main toilets are upstairs.

Saving grace was helpful staff and a refund, letdown was two atrocious servings of mauled steak! £14 for "gourmet" steak & drink, first was anaemic, raw and mostly gristle, also unannounced flavour coating! Sent back to the kitchen, second steak also came out raw and it looked repulsive, and no sauce. My partner ordered the pie main, and was disappointed to discover it was kiddy sized also half inedible, gravy boat bigger than pie. but he ate what he could, because he's a bloke ... Won't be back for food in a hurry!

Standard Spoons, reliable cheap drinks and food of pretty decent quality. Easy to get to, just a short walk from the bus station and plenty of parking nearby. Staff are friendly and service is pretty quick during quiet times. Busier periods obviously not so much.
