This was built in 1929, opening on 1 December. Designed for the Davenport Brewery, by Francis Goldsbrough (from the local architectural practice of Bateman and Bateman), this is one of the largest and finest examples of a Brewer’s Tudor-style public house
Enormous pub with a distinctive monochrome exterior, high interior ceilings a sprawling garden.
The mix race worker from here is absolutely rude very unprofessional and needs to learn how to communicate properly. Needs to learn some manners and not talk to people like they are beneath him absolutely disrespectful. Don’t work in customer service if you don’t know how to talk to people.
Today we went after months to have a relaxing meal which was ok in itself. When we were leaving we noticed a man was being laid out on the floor. The ambulance arrived and blocked all the cars in. They refused to pull out of the way and park in a safe spot to let us out resulting in us all queuing up in the carpark on a cold night. I can see why people get put off by them. Weatherspoon staff need to be trained on seeking out appropriate place away from clients to care for the sick and directing emergency vehicles to the appropriate place without upsetting clients. Complete shambles!
Lovely seating in the back garden and great service.. the food however. Usually a spoons never disappoints but my chicken burger came out not thoroughly defrosted in the bun. Sent it back and they changed it with no questions asked. Everyone else’s food was fine so probably just a one off.
This wasn't bad at all! We was given a huge plate full of food and a rum and coke for £12 each in this current land of price rises We thought this was fantastic! The interior is BEAUTIFUL a gorgeous historical building its just gorgeous!
They have hot drinks machine where you fill your cup yourself plenty of seating for eating in. Weatherspoon breakfast never fails had a lovely valentines date with my son. Reasonable priced. Just a few dodgy characters in here I felt a little uneasy.
