I lived on the Avenue 20 years ago, and saw a Meatloaf tribute act here. He was really good, and the beer was good too. Has a lounge and bar area. Didn’t ever try the quiz.
No longer a nice pub, the new owners can't do nothing to sort the pub out. They wonder why there isn't many customer's. Well make the place look better and then maybe you'll get more custom. That's the only way to get the custom in
Karoake and disco on in lounge but no football in the bar which was closed on a main Friday night. Not used the pub for some time but frankly not impressed. The beer was of decent quality but there's much more to a pub then the drink. I won't be rushing back
Used to be my local years ago. Just started going back again. Surprised it's lasted so long. Roomy. Bigger selection of drinks than they used to have, and they do some really good food now if you catch them when the chef's in. It's like the black sheep of the AG pubs, could be an acquired taste, idk, but I really like it. Had some good times there.
As a general rule I would advise going to this bar with a friend or two. The atmosphere is generally pleasant but I don't think that you will feel at home if you are alone and not from the area. The pub is bare bones, simple and in a way somewhat quaint. Regarded as the place to be by some, but many folks would walk past this pub and not look back.
