Didn't like that as soon as you go inside the reception there's a photo of a guy with flowers around his neck. It made me think that the guy has died and the hotel is celebrating his life. Saying that the girl at the reception was very nice and helpful. The room itself was small and the window's catch was broken making closing or opening the window difficult. There seems to be a problem with water pressure because there was hardly any water to shower. I did like the view from the side window towards the lake and the location of the hotel, being close to town. Almost forgotten,left my jacket behind when I left and got in touch with the reception and asked if they can post it to me and I will pay for it. I was surprised when they said that they can't do that. Not very helpful!
Stayed two nights, perfect location for exploring Glen Nevis and surrounding areas, there’s a decent amount of parking, though it can be a little tight in places. The decor is very unique, I thought it was pretty cool. My room also had funky decor, the bed was massive and super comfy, the only downside was the shower in my room didn’t have much pressure so that wasn’t great but it’s not a deal breaker. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I had an evening meal one of the nights. Haggis pakora (so tasty!) and rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. On the whole I really enjoyed my stay!
I originally had a room booked at the Muthu Ben Doran hotel in Tyndrum, and suddenly received an email out of nowhere stating they were closed on that particular day (months after I'd booked it), and they could offer me accommodation at a nearby hotel, or offer a refund. Looking at the prices of what Muthu Fort William wanted for a night, I said no thank you . . . unless they could offer me the same rate we were paying for the Ben Doran property. Worst case scenario, they would say no, I'd ask for a refund, and there would be a mad scramble to rearrange our trip based on this. Thankfully, they honored that request, for which I was appreciative of. We got into town relatively early and we were allowed to leave our packs in the lobby for the clerk to keep an eye on. We came back at check-in, that was easy, the woman was very helpful. The room was relatively nice, but upon closer inspection, it was very rundown/worn, and in need of a lot of fixing up. The sheets on my bed were a bit stained (it happens), but there was hair everywhere. Long, dark hair draped all over the bathroom including stuck on the shower walls, on the floor (got a lot picked up on my socks), and on other surfaces throughout the room. It felt very much like it hadn't been completely cleaned. Perks: they offered a lot of little nice snacks and water in the room for free. Nice quality soap and shampoo/conditioner in the bathrooms. The rooms were fairly quiet, which was appreciated. Beds were OK quality. We paid for breakfast, and that was nice overall. Buffet-style full Scottish breakfast alongside other bits.
We stayed 4 nights and had a great experience here. Thank you too Vanessa at check-in, very kind and accommodating. Special thanks to Jon and Rose for being so friendly, kind, and accommodating. They really made us feel at home. I would definitely book here again abd highly recommend staying here. Thank you again to all the staff for making us feel so comfortable and at home.
Hotel is clean, staff are friendly and helpful. Room was decent size and bed was comfortable. We hadn't booked breakfast, but we were glad we decided to have breakfast in the hotel. The buffet choice was really good, and very reasonably priced (£12.50) . No complaints.
