About us

As well as the restaurant, we offer less formal dining experiences in the bar, the snug or the fish bar, each offering our guests a different atmosphere, but always with the same great service and award winning food.

Our Restaurant Garden is also available, so when the weather's fine you can come and enjoy the Heifer's outside eating experience.

My husband booked us a table here for my birthday. The place was recommended to him by many of his friends. The atmosphere was lovely, relaxed and cosy when we arrived, with the log burning stove roaring away in the seating area as you walk in. We also liked the fact, you could see into the kitchen when making your way to the front of the building after parking. The kitchen looked to be very clean which is always a fear I have when dining out. We were served by a very friendly, polite and helpful gentleman who took us to our seats. The table had been set up with a birthday balloon, birthday card and small gift, which was a lovely touch. The food.. Wow.. our table had Lobsters and Steaks. They were absolutely out of this world, they tasted amazing, they smelt amazing. They were cooked to perfection. It was my first time trying Lobster, and it was incredible at this restaurant. If you have the opportunity to visit, I would highly recommend you do. What a wonderful place to be. Thank you for helping my husband make my birthday one to remember. Thank you for such a pleasant experience. (Please note we only Dined, we didn't stay in a room)

Had a wonderful anniversary lunch. The staff were friendly & helpful from the moment we arrived. They were dog friendly which was an added bonus. Balloon & card was a lovely touch. We both had (different) steaks which were perfectly cooked as ordered, and we went slightly off menu which was managed with ease & charm. The honeycomb x3 dessert was pretty as a picture & to die for. All in all just perfect. Thank you to all the staff.

Had the pleasure of staying here with my husband for our birthday treat. The room was comfortable, quite and dressed for our birthdays. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and attentive. They seemed to enjoy working there, felt like a happy family environment. The food and drinks were of the highest quality. We will be returning.

Visited with my wife as a treat night out. It was a Sunday evening but the restaurant was full and the atmosphere wonderful. The internal decor is tastefully done with stone walls and timber ceilings. A nice light space with artwork by a local artist of local scenes. Our waiter was very attentive and had a wealth of knowledge about their produce. Our food arrived in good time and was beautifully presented. The portion sizes are just right. We sometimes find at restaurants that offer higher quality food the portion sizes are very small. Fantastic taste but you leave still a bit hungry! That's not the case here. The quality of the food was superb and there is plenty of advice in regards of what wines complement each dish. There's a sensible selection of cocktails too. This isn't a cheap restaurant but what you get for your money is definitely good value.

We went to the Wensleydale Heifer for my parents anniversary meal and it was amazing from the moment we walked in! (Apart from the tight car park, but it didn’t put us off the place) I called last minute on the day and they were kind enough to squeeze us in, I mentioned it was there anniversary and even in the short time frame, they still had a balloon and a little pouch of goodies on the table for my parents. The food was just absolutely beautiful! The portions were amazing and the flavours as well as the decoration on the plates, all incredible!! The staff were so so welcoming and approachable, we had a great time!! Will definitely be back again! Thank you!!
