Best pub in town to catch a pint or ten
Proper old town pub with excellent selection of well kept beer and guest ales. . This pub remains almost unchanged over the years and long may it continue to do so. A short walk from the town centre but a long way in time. Not at all foodie but the crisps are fine.
First visit to the Welly for far to long. Still a fantastic pub. Reasonable prices, great beers and lots of dogs. What more do you want.....
What a great find this was! The location is pretty hidden away but I encourage anyone who loves traditional pubs to hunt it down as you won’t be disappointed. Inside is more like a museum to beers, with an incredible range of old bottles and beer mats decorating the walls and ceilings and the current range of drinks on offer is equally as impressive and unique. Staff are friendly and as welcoming as the atmosphere, and the prices charged only make it better! The bookcase of loanable reads is a lovely touch and hopefully the pub features in the many ‘good beer guide’ directories! I cannot wait to return here and can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before - highly recommended!
If you want a proper pub, in Bedford nothing comes close (Three Cups is the nearest). A temple to ale. As good a pub as will be found anywhere.
