A huge 20 beer tap wall, huge all-weather garden, live music, a vinyl only DJ policy and great food would be sure to flag down the great man as he passed.
History has failed to record how Barnard felt about beer, but with 20 to choose from there’s pretty much something for every taste. An amazing 12 taps are devoted to craft beer, including eight on rotation. These are split equally between local breweries and the best that the global scene has to offer. The huge range of craft cans and bottles is also available to take away at a discounted price. There’s also six hand pull pumps for cask ales and cider, again serving a constantly rotating selection.
Music is at the heart of Watson’s, with almost no genre left untouched. There’s DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, an open deck policy on Sundays. Elsewhere live music provides a buzz to the pub every Thursday.
An all-weather garden is covered in winter and gloriously open to the sunshine in the summer. Book early though, it’s super popular.

Dog friendly, one of the better vegan burgers I've had in London recently, a decent beer selection including craft options, board games and an enormous beer garden.
Fantastic local pub. I’d post a photo of the food but that went quickly - had the spicy chicken burger with herby fries. Taste 5/5. Music 5/5. Good bathroom cleanliness.
Popped in for a lazy Sunday afternoon and had a lovely time relaxing playing board games near the (very large) Christmas tree. The staff were so friendly and fun. Didn't eat that's why I didn't give five stars. Family friendly. Warm atmosphere. Recommended!
A friendly local with plenty of space. Cosy interior and plentiful garden. Menu does the job, head for the generous portion of Parmesan truffle fries :) even better at weekends with bbq specials
Good pub on Forest Hill Road. Classic building retaining Truman's exterior detail and decoration. Previously known as the Forest Hill Tavern. Disappointingly, the pub usually has only one cask beer on handpump these days (there used to be 3 or 4). Very large garden most of it covered by a canopy.

The Herne Tavern is a classic Victorian pub tucked away on Forest Hill Road in East Dulwich, opposite the glorious green space that is Peckham Rye.

London's First Co-Operative Pub. A brilliant pub and venue saved by the people, for the people. Open every day from Noon.
