About us

The King's Head has always played an important part in the history of Wellesbourne. Originally known as The Wellsbourne Inn in the 1600s, the King's Head was used as a hospital during the English Civil War. During the Second World War, we played host to the RAF pilots and ground crews from near by Wellsbourne airfield.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

Like this pub very much. Take advantage of their special offers on food when we can. Four of us had lunch there with 50%off mains. All meals were good except my chicken Penang curry, the chicken was difficult to cut and tough to chew, I left most of the meat. The waitress said she would tell the kitchen,on talking to the manager she said that the chicken is grilled so it was as it should be. I won't order it again and I'm glad it wasn't full price- it would have been £17.75 , that's a lot of money for what it was. Lovely place though, will carry on taking our friends there- especially when the offers are on!!

The restaurant was very busy on our visit ... capacity, but it was 30th December. Although it felt a longer wait for our food it was understandable. And we have no complaint. We did wonder how the kitchens would cope and whether the food would be good. We needn't have worried. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. We were very impressed with the quality and quantity during a very busy lunchtime service. Thanks to the kitchens and waiting staff. 😊😊

Ellie in the restaurant was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Attentive and knowledgeable and very, very helpful with anything we asked for. Food was delicious and quick to serve. Thank you for a lovely dining experience. We give Ellie 5 stars, but the trouble that we had checking in and the initial issues with the duty manager and the confusion over the menus I cannot rate. The rooms are lovely but the lack of contents on the hospitality tray, considering the cost, could be better - one Biscoff biscuit each and four teabags in total - no fruit or herbal tea which all looked a bit pathetic. In saying this we would recommend a stay here without question.

Just had a delicious three course meal from their festive menu. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We have not stayed in the rooms so can't comment on that. The pub was warm and welcoming would definitely recommend.

Lovely warm and welcoming surroundings. Lunch with friends. Clare looked after us and was very attentive and helpful. The food was well presented and the portions were generous. It would have been perfect but the sea bass was a little dry.
