The venue was attractive, the staff were attentive, but not intrusively so, and helpful. The food was pretty good and in about the right quantity, for us. The only negative, from my perspective, was the music, which didn't seem particularly appropriate for a dining room. Thankfully, while a little louder than necessary, it wasn't overbearing.

We hadn't been to the Boot Inn for many years, not since it was extended. There were 5 of us on a Friday evening at the beginning of December and therefore we expected there to be a party atmosphere, and there was. Except you could hardly hear each other speak at times. Good job we had a sense of humour. The place was full and the staff, nearly always smiling, but not quite, had their hands full keeping everyone attended too. We placed our food orders and waited to be fed. It took some while to be served, which we half expected but what we didn't expect was the perfunctory manner in which empty drinks glasses and finished with plates were collected. Tantamount to being elbowed aside by a waiter is a surprise experience, for us at least. The food was excellent and for that we would try the experience again. We gave a fairly generous tip which sadly was not acknowledged. Yes, they were busy, but we spent well.

Very good restaurant. Staff looked after us with 3 children (all under 3) no problem. Prompt and happy service. Second time and will return again

The decor is lovely and the staff I can't praise highly enough, they were friendly and professional and went out their way to make sure we were ok. We had a party of 16. Having pre seen the menu I was having the lamb but once there saw a beef brisket and double gloucester pie added to the menu which I opted for instead. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed, it was ok but the pie filling wasn't what I expected of beef brisket, was more plain steak chunks then shredded beef and couldn't really taste any double gloucester in it. The pastry was nice though, mash was nice but not much of it and same with the veg. My starter was average, sticky chicken, which was basically popcorn chicken in a sauce, no garnish, for the price I would have expected nice chicken chunks. I'm in two minds to go back as it is quite pricey and not sure it's totally worth what you pay.

Really tasty roast dinner: not the cheapest but every part of it was well cooked, meat very tender, good gravy and the best Yorkshire pudding I've had in a restaurant (not the dry crunchy type that's been sitting under a hot lamp like you usually get, this was soft and fluffy). Definitely recommend! The apple and damson crumble was also very nice
