Situated next to the Swan's Nest Hotel, The Bear offers a beautiful riverside location with stunning views across the River Avon and is just a five minute stroll from the RSC recently refurbished theatre.
We are passionate about the eight real ales we serve and enjoy searching for new beer from existing brewers and indeed new breweries; CAMRA have been kind enough to recognise our endeavours over the years - it’s a tough job but someone has to do it!
We also offer a simple British pub menu. Lots of hard work goes into sourcing local suppliers that can provide us with the best ingredients to help us make everything we cook tasty and satisfying. Choose from quick bites and sharers or enjoy something more substantial like our burgers, we really hope there is something for everyone, whether you fancy a light salad or a substantial and authentic curry.
The atmosphere at The Bear is friendly and informal. The stylish interior has a warm, cosy feel with beautifully restored wood panelling, two central fires and an iconic pewter bar top. There is also an outside seating area for you to enjoy your drink and watch the world go by.
Our pub is run by Simon, who simply loves real ale so working within the pub trade is perfect for him. He has the tough job of searching for new and interesting ales to bring to the Bear and is always happy to hear your suggestions.

I really liked this pub, very good value compared to some in the town for drinks. And apart from the visitor effing this and that, really nice environment. Highly recommended.
The bar is lovely warm friendly. But please be aware if you buy half pint of beer you pay a lot extra & look for offers. We where resident and not told 🤫 I complained & was reimbursed.
Nice comfortable place, food seemed popular, my own experience was wouldn't rush to dine there again but I might just have been unlucky on this occasion. Otherwise a pleasant place to be.
Nice place, stayed in adjacent hotel and ate in pub as it was convenient and dog friendly. Food was served promptly for us, calamari and pasta. Calamari was really nice. Good selection of drinks so you should be able to find something you like. We love the hotel so no doubt we will revisit The Bear
Tasty food, great ale selection. Meal deals at at certain times. Really friendly staff.
