About us

Great hotels near Stafford don’t come much better than the Vine Hotel. Tucked down one of the many narrow side streets, the Vine Hotel carries the accolade of being the oldest pub in Stafford.

It’s ideally situated within walking distance of all the main attractions that Stafford offers, including the Gateway Theatre, Ancient High House and the Shire Hall Gallery. We’re only 6 minutes’ drive from Stafford Castle, and Stoke on Trent and Cannock are both less than 25 minutes away.

Our rooms come complete with digital television, en-suite bathrooms and wifi, for an authentic home-from-home experience. Our guests can also enjoy free parking at The Vine. Sleep soundly in a kingsize Hypnos bed, on the Beaumont mattress, which is filled with a wool-silk mix and has a surface which regulates your body’s temperature.

A warm welcome from our teams is standard but so is excellent food. Whatever your occasion, choose from the pub classics that you know and love, like fish & chips, burgers and great desserts. Not forgetting the kids who have their very own menu. Find a great wine selection, as well as a range of soft drinks and spirits. We boast an excellent selection of cask ales, from Marston’s five breweries.

If you're visiting for business, we’re closely located to Tollgate Industrial Estate and Stafford Technology Park. If you’re here for leisure, why not see what's on at Staffordshire County Showground or get the adrenaline going at Alton Towers?.

Booked based on reviews and price I booked the vine for one night. The staff at reception were polite. The room was disgusting. Never stayed in a room like it. So disappointed and felt filthy after my stay. Raised with staff who said they agreed it wasn't to standard and would raise with the cleaning staff. Not offered another room or to clean it. I know it was only £60 but clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Disgusting.

Just had a drink 🍸 in there. Very cosy and rustic. Oldest Inn in Stafford apparently from the 1500s seemingly. Reasonable prices for the drinks but haven't tried the food yet 🤔

I personally loved it here, very rustic setting, old world Inn. We stayed overnight, the room was lovely, huge comfortable bed, nice size TV, decent en suite with good shower, everything seemed clean and on point, as you'd expect of inn of this age they is some tight stairs and wonky floors, but it all adds to the character ☺️ The pub under was great too, brilliant prices on the food and alcohol, the only reason I've given 4 star is because they had ran out of steak! However I loved the fish and chips, the fish was huge and lovely batter. The staff were great, went out of the way to help us as much as they could with restricted menu and would definitely recommend and return (just pre book your steak🤫)

If you're looking for a unique and historic dining experience, look no further than this pub/restaurant/hotel located in a stunning 600-year-old building. We had with my wife the special coronation lunch which was simply outstanding, with a delicious tomato soup to start, followed by a mouth-watering lamb shank, and a delectable dessert to round out the meal - all at a great price. But the dining experience is not the only thing this establishment has to offer. We also had the pleasure of visiting one of the family rooms in the hotel, and it was lovely. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, making for a perfect night's sleep. Overall, I highly recommend this pub/restaurant/hotel. The combination of delicious food, historic ambiance, and comfortable lodging make it a must-visit for anyone in Stafford.
