£47 for a private room, absolute luxury after 6 days of wildcamping the Pennine Way. Host was lovely and happily sorted me a big vegan breakfast. Highly recommend for an easy/rest day on the PW.
Best hotel accommodation we had on our Pennine Way walk. Room clean and heated with lovely view out over this very interesting, old, partially restored town. Breakfast full english style. Functioning wifi and across street from PO and Co-op. This is a character hotel with a great manager committed to her guests.
The Inn is very old and tired - needing serious renovation. But it's great value for money. I paid £35 for a single room - 1 night. It does "what it says on the tin" - Bed and breakfast. The bed was clean, soft but comfortable, the 6-item breakfast (plus juice, toast and coffee or tea) - was hearty. Small rooms - but basically clean and functional enough for a 1-night stay. Small unisex toilet with a faulty lock! The TV in my room was probably bought around 1980 or 1990 at the latest - I couldn't find a way to get it to work properly. No lift. Central location - but up a fairly steep hill! - on Alston's main thoroughfare, near the market cross and Co-op. It's not luxury - check the price - a lot of other hotels and inns nearby are considerably pricier!
I stayed at the Victoria Inn for two nights. A lovely genuine welcome from the owner, Tiam. My room was warm, bed comfortable, and en-suite clean with very hot water. Good supply of tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was great. No evening meal available but that was probably because my visit was mid week in the low season. There are other places to eat nearby. The hotel is traditional, and great value for money.
Great hostess, pub and breakfast. We had such a good Saturday night there and the breakfast in the morning was good too and hostess is fab. This pub/hotel will be on sale in a year's time and it is in a fabulous location, if I had the money I would buy it.
