Situated on the banks of the River Cherwell in Old Marston, The Victoria Arms is a stunning riverside pub and restaurant with mooring available for punts on the River Cherwell.
Full of local history, the building dates back to the 17th century as the ferryman’s cottage, and once hosted a certain Oliver Cromwell.
The Victoria offers traditional pub charm with beautiful interiors, a heated pergola terrace, and huge beer gardens overlooking the river.
In the kitchen, our focus is hearty seasonal dishes and elevated pub classics, with local produce and ingredients at the heart of the menu.
In the warmer months, it’s all about street food inspiration, served up from our garden kitchen kiosk to the busy terrace and garden.
Behind the bar, we’re proud of our beer selection, with a great range of ale, lager and cider courtesy of our award-winning Butcombe Brewery, along with our cocktail menu.
We’re child-friendly and dog-friendly, both indoors and outside, with plenty of space for small and large groups.
Looking for a venue for your event? Our private dining space is perfect for special occasions, meetings, and Christmas parties.
We’re ideally situated close to popular attractions in Oxfordshire, like Oxford University walking tours, the Bodleian Library, and Blenheim Place.
Look out for exciting events and live music throughout the summer!.

Great venue on the river. Super friendly staff and great food. We cycled from Oxford but have also punted. The pie of the week and chicken burger were staff recommendations and did not disappoint.
Went there as a group of 9 for a family reunion. Lovely Pub and part of the Butcombe chain. Great location on the river at Old Marston. Friendly attentive staff and nice food at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend a visit.
This is hands down our favourite pub anywhere! Beautiful setting by the river, delicious food, and friendly staff. My kids love running around on the lawns in summer or playing the boardgames inside in winter. Really a very special spot for the whole family.
I had the ploughman's, my wife had fishcakes. Both well prepared and presented, Butcombe Gold was in very good condition. Staff very friendly and efficient. Some years since I was last in the garden, but the Riverside has been much improved so arriving by river now much easier.
I loved this pub!! I personally walked but it seemed alot of people drove. It's a stone's throw from university park and highly recommended. A fun walk with a great reward at the end. The pub itself has a bit more of a restaurant feel, however it works with the location with a great beer garden on the river. I would highly recommend checking it out.
