Great place to go to, although the door staff, one bouncer was very rude and pushed my friend into a door and she damaged her left shoulder. Wont recommend, going out and back in at 1:30, specially with unprofessional bouncer on the door. The other door staff was trying to understand the situation, and he was more understanding, compare to the other rude bouncer, that was working on Thursday night. I would highly recommend going somewhere else then going to Spoons after 10pm, unless you want to be pushed into a door with full force, while asking to go to the toilet, before closing time which was roughly 15minutes, before the venue closed.
I came in a few weeks ago for a few drinks and a catch up with some old friends of mine. We originally weren't going to order any food but then decided to get some small plates to share between us, the food came out quickly and piping hot, it was so good, especially for the price! But that wasn't the best bit of The Union Rooms. Because the staff were super friendly, we were served by a lovely woman most of the night, she said her name was Julie, she always had a smile on her face, was very polite and when we did come across an issue with one of our drinks being incorrectly made she instantly went out of her way to get it sorted quickly. I would definitely come back again, if not for the good food and cheap drinks but just for the great customer service Julie provided all night.
I asked for med well steak and got very done one. I eat at Wetherspoons on a Tuesday all over the country but this was the worst cooked one I've experienced. Shame. Pudding was nice though.
This was a fantastic pub to go for a drink at, with a fancy design for Plymouth's seaside location! The palm trees outside and docking decorations inside contribute to this, the counter is well-presented and staff were properly organized. I enjoyed a pint of Guinness, sitting outside at a comfy and smooth table!
Nice building, very big and well kept. Staff were polite. Food was below par. Cold chicken, very dry meats. Sadly wouldn't recommend for food. Shame, it looked good but was like chewing wood. Edit: Came in for breakfast, had no eggs in toast, had no pancakes, gave change of a £20 note in coins and manager wouldn't get a note from another till! Toilet locks don't exist. Very poor.
