Had a private party in the ground floor function room. Great venue/room. Really good night.

Ordered a take out Sunday lunch today and it did not disappoint! Beef was absolutley gorgeous and rest of the dinner was just as nice. Would definitley recommend for a traditional home made dinner.

My daughter had her wedding here all day/night. Very disappointed with the venue/owner. The buffet provided was fit for a childs party. Paid extra for a seafood platter, my god £50 and was seriously disgusted in the poor selection on the platter for the price. Seen better platters on marketplace for half the price. My daughter was allowed in the night before to set up. They virtually had everything set up then to be told at 7.50pm (we had till 8pm to finish) that we weren't allowed to have anything fixed to the wall.....we had a backdrop and balloon arch already set up. The owner was nowhere to be seen. I told them not a chance would it be coming down and if he didn't want anything on the walls then those instructions should have been given on booking etc and during communications beforehand. I didn't take it down and told the bar person that if it was removed there would be serious bother. It was still up thankfully! They also told her it would be £30 for a bottle of Prosecco for the wedding toasts. THIRTY POUND!!! They sell it in Asda for £6.95 a bottle. She's didn't go ahead with it but was told she wasn't allowed to bring her own as they would suffer financial loss. On the wedding her father happened to be standing at the bar and someone was buying a bottle for their table, they were charged £17.95 for the bottle. He did purchase 10 for his daughter but I was outraged that he wanted to charge her £30 per bottle!!! Disgusting!!! The room itself smelt damp and wasn't that clean. The tables were sticky, the bar was dirty and understocked for the amount of people there (approx 120) the drink prices were also marked up for the event. The attitude of the bar staff was questionable, considering how much this venue cost overall including the extra cost for the bottles of Prosecco we should have been given a more professional service and attitude. My daughter didn't get all of her decorations etc back either and when they questioned it she was told that was all they had and the room was cleared for another venue on the Sunday morning. I would never recommend this venue. Utter disgrace. I have been a landlord of a local pub myself so I know what should be expected of a venue and what should be delivered. Sadly this was not the case here. Should be ashamed of themselves.

Never again. A party of 9 of us had a table booked tonight, when we got there nbsat down there was children running all over the place, lying on the chairs and so loud. The table was very sticky and the cutlery was filthy. We waited n waited to b served with drinks and our meal orders and nobody came. It was a total disgrace and certainly will never go back.

Absolutely love this place, so lucky to live 2 minutes away! The roast on a Sunday is my favourite but can't fault the daily special either. Great staff too.
