For over 100 years Sir John Fitzgerald’s unique and individual Real Ale and Great Food Pubs have provided a warm North East welcome to regulars and visitors in Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Whitley Bay.
In terms of pub locations, Fitzy’s in Newcastle is hard to beat. It’s situated on the elegant Grey Street, which is by far the city’s most stunning street in terms of striking architecture. It’s also within walking distance of the prestigious Theatre Royal, it’s close to the Quayside, and it’s in the perfect spot for anyone wanting a smart venue for a business lunch, or a chance to wind down after leaving the office on a Friday afternoon.
Cheap and welcoming. An older person's pub but great none the less. Will be back. Empty star for food as I didn't have any! Enjoy the toon. HWTL.
A great busy bar on my Saturday night visit. Busy, but still room to move about! I chose a pint of white rat from the real ale menu. Being from Wakefield West Yorks, this is a local brew and was in perfect condition 👌. I will visit again and encourage others to do so if they're in Toon. 🍻
This is a very classy looking pub, but is remarkably reasonably priced. Real ales sold for around £4-£5 and always a great little selection. The interior is very nice, with a high standard of decor throughout. The staff are friendly and happy to talk through the ale selections.
Dreadful I stood at the left hand side of the bar for 20 minutes not at the end just left of centre the bar staff saw me but I didn’t get served. Then all the football fans came in and the barmaid Lesley shouted you won’t get served there move! How pleasant! I told her I had been there 20 minutes there was no sign up saying you couldn’t get served there but she was just rude. All the staff just served the male footie fans in the middle of the bar so we left this used to be a great pub we have been going for over 40 years so we went to all bar one across the road got served straight away pleasant bar staff & great drinks.
Very good pub on Grey Street Newcastle. Six cask ales on handpump when I last visited including an oatmeal stout. A few tables outside at the front. Busy, but not impossibly so, before the Spurs game at St James' Park.
