Wow!!! The location is perfect, the food is superb and the team keeping it running are friendly, cheerful and very welcoming. Newcastle is a really fun, young city and this is a fantastic base from where you can easily explore the City and the rest of the beautiful North East of England. I will definitely be returning and look forward to staying at the Royal Station again.

Nice hotel to stay in. In a great Location and easy to find. What let's it down is our room at least was starting to look "tired" . The net curtain on the window had a hole in it, there was cracking paint and plaster in the entry to the room. It would also possibly benefit from double glazing to help with the noise. We were there midweek but several times through the night we were woken up by sirens, obviously not the fault of the hotel but still something that spoiled the stay. Also worth noting is the fact that Hotel parking is not clearly marked and is at a real premium. I parked in the Railway station carpark and it was extremely expensive. Having to pay full price for 2 days parking when I only parked for 1 day and 20 minutes. Had I known this fact beforehand we would probably have spent more time in Newcastle or found somewhere cheaper to park.

Comfortable homely place once you are past the big chandeliers. Good breakfasts. The light over the desk in my room could have been brighter. Great location for exploring the city and beyond. I will probably stay again next time I visit.

First time staying here. Staff were lovely. Easy check-in experience. Nice breakfast (self-service hot and cold buffet). Nice coffee. Good service. Room was lovely apart from it was too cold (no way of heating), and the bed was slightly soft for me (seemed like an old mattress). Otherwise it was great. Old fashioned and quaint.

The location of the Royal Station Hotel was ideal for me as I was travelling to Newcastle by train and the hotel was only a few minutes’ walk from Newcastle Train station. It saved me the hustles of carrying my bags walking across the busy streets in the town centre. The hotel offers a delightful historic charm. Stepping through the elegant entrance, I was immediately greeted by a sense of grandeur, with a classy decor that included chandeliers and a majestic grand staircase. I had the pleasure of staying in a spacious, clean and comfortable room facing the car park instead of the main road. As such, I did not hear the noise from the main street, which had been a concern for some other reviewers. Instead, I was treated to a lovely view of the iconic Tyne Bridge right outside my window. The room featured a desk, which was convenient for work, but the addition of a desk lamp will be required to brighten up the space during the evening hours. The provision of a swimming pool was a plus. While it has served its purpose, its layout did pose a slight inconvenience. Since the changing room was located upstairs from the pool area, it required the swimmers traversing a carpeted space between the changing room and the pool in bare feet. I would recommend guests bring a pair of sandals or slippers when they intend to use the swimming pool. It would be helpful if the hotel could alert pool users about this in advance. Despite these small inconveniences, I have had a great stay at Royal Station Hotel. I will stay here again the next time I come to Newcastle.
