Looking for a place to stay for a few nights while you explore Northumberland and Scotland? I could not recommend The Bird in Bush pub highly enough because it is 10/10. My husband and I stopped by here on a Sunday without a booking and to be honest I thought we'd be turned away as their restaurant was busy. Instead we were warmly greeted, quickly seated, quickly served, and then two plates of hot and delicious Sunday roasts arrived within 10-15 mins and we were left alone to enjoy everything in our own time. They even gave lots of goodies to our 3-yr-old and offered us a plate of mince pies they had on the bar for guests. It's a lovely pub. We'll definitely be back. Thank you to the amazing staff for making us feel so welcome.
Amazing, cosy little pub in a beautiful peaceful village. The staff were wonderful, so welcoming and friendly. We spent an evening in the bar and were the last ones there and had a lovely chat with the team before heading off to bed. The locals in the pub were also really friendly. The food was delicious, and the portions were so generous. We were lucky enough to be given one of the suites, Skylark, and it was one of the most beautiful rooms I've stayed in. A huge thank you to the team at the Bird In Bush for such a lovely stay!
Was visiting the village and had the Bird and Bush recommended as somewhere to get a good dinner. Walking into the bar was like crossing enemy lines. Everyone in the bar turned to look at me and I was given the dirtiest look by the barmaid. She tried to act professionally by asking me if she could help but I could tell she was irritated by my presence. I asked if they were serving food and she smiled saying “no sorry” in a way that implied she wasn’t sorry at all. I turned around and left.
Call in on a visit to the area. Although the venue was very busy we received a very warm frindly welcome. We ordered drinks and sat down but they kept serving lovely food and decided to eat as well. The food was excellent and served promptly. After eating we enquired about the accommodation and we’re shown around buy a lovely lady called Anne and the rooms are stunning. Only five rooms but all with on suite, bath robes and telescopes to take advantage of the dark skies we were really impressed. Unfortunately all rooms were taken but we will make a reservation and return.
Totally recommend Bird in Bush for a short stay in attractive Elsdon. Our bedroom was clean and beautifully furnished and the bed super comfy. The meals in the bar were excellent and good value. And the local beer was very good. Above all, everyone was super friendly and welcoming - congratulations Jackie on the great bunch of people who work at Bird in Bush.
