Two Bridges Hotel is great little stop almost in the middle of Dartmoor. I didn't stay there I just stopped for a mid-week cream tea and a beer - delicious. The resteraunt is really rustic and the food was excellent, perfect place for a post-hike refresh. The hotel has 32 rooms, strangely didn't seem big enough, and was apparently Vivien Leigh's favorite place to stay.
Excellent young staff are trying their best during busy times. But, management needs a shake up. The service was hit and miss. We had booked in advance and ended up almost running our own visit. By the end of which, there was another qué of drinks orders at the bar. So, I asked at reception if the lady wouldn't mind coming to the bar, to let us pay for our meal on the empty second till. But, this was too much for her to comprehend. She just continued to sit there watching all the staff struggling to keep up. This carried on until other customers sat down on booked tables. The receptionist would then jump up and tell them to move without an offer of somewhere else to go to ("do you have anywhere else we can sit?.... "I don't know") As the only place around they have the market cornerd, but that doesn't mean you can let up on standards. It needs addressing because it is a lovely looking hotel in a lovely area.
Lovely location. There is not much internet or phone signal, but so what! We had a lovely set meal for 37.50 plus drinks. The staff were helpful. We are thinking now of spending Christmas there next year it was that good. Cheers!
Beautiful location, building and staff. We did a 'murder mystery' evening, such an amazing evening. The food was stunning, 4 amazing courses. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
Just spent two wonderful nights here. Had always wanted to stop here and at last finally did. The hotel has lots of character, very clean and the bedrooms I could not fault, my bed was so comfortable The food was lovely. I thought the staff went above and beyond, very friendly. Pleased that they welcome dogs and mine was made very welcome. I would love to come and stay again and will do!!!
