Just been for a meal at the traveler's rest. Food was outstanding. The burger was huge. My wife had minxd and dumpling which was also amazing and our son had the rib eye steak which was tremendous. Great value for money. Lovely atmosphere with very friendly and polite staff. Will definitely be returning
When coming in we were welcomed by a young man who showed us our table, brought the menus and ordered our drinks. All going well. When ordering food i asked if the parmo hsd bechamel sauce, was told it did. I ordered a coke when ordering, I had to remind them when the food came that I ordered a coke. The parmo came.... well it waa actually a piece if chicken they use in the chicken burger with a sprinkle of cheese. I went up to complain and ordered a cheese burger instead. It was as if they didn't dare come over, didn't take the parmo away or anything cheese burger came, still nothing. Asked for the bill, paid and left. Didn't charge me for the parmo fair enough, but the fact the avoided the table at all cost and only said sorry as we walked out the door. Chef needs to learn what a parmo is or take it off the menu !
Came up for Lumiere light festival from London. The travelers rest was recommended to us so we came for a roast dinner with the family before returning home. We were made to feel welcome and the staff while busy never appeared stressed nor rushed us. We had a 2 course meal. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were very generous. Excellent value, I would definitely recommend and will be returning when I'm back up in the North East.
We booked a table for 8 people and the dog for our wedding dinner. The service was excellent, the food was very yummy, and the portions were huge. We all had a great time. Thank you, guys! Well done to the manager who welcomed us and made sure we all had everything we needed.
We were not expecting this quality of food ! Fantastic service from walking through the doors. The Basic looking menu did disappoint at first and we were both expecting standard pub grub at best for the price... But how wrong were we ? Generous portions politely served and enjoyed by us both.. would definitely recommend a visit !
