Bit of a let down compared to how good it looks from outside/as you walk in. Only food on Monday night was pizzas, which were not good - looked like had been straight out the freezer. And our pints were £8! Not what you expect from Irish pub, although atmosphere was decent.
This place has no business serving food. Clearly, the crew working on Saturday evening Dec 2 did not have any idea how to operate a kitchen. There's obviously no excuse for having to wait two hours for inadequate pub grub. A `busy kitchen' -- what we were told -- is laughable, especially when we seemed to be the only people eating. (we looked around). This may be a perfectly fine place to have a Guiness but unfortunately we went there to eat. I'll urge you to not repeat our mistake.
Cracking Sunday lunch. We came here after a chilly and wet walk onHampstead Heath. Lovely pub which had a live Gaelic band playing that afternoon, great atmosphere. The roast was gorgeous - fluffy and crispy potatoes, generous portion of pork with beautifully rendered crackling and no charge for extra gravy. Crispy and chewy Yorkshire pud and buttery braised seasonal veg.
Brendan the Navigator is a cracking pub with good food and a variety of beers. The owner, John, is a lovely guy to chat to. There's tons of space indoors and ample outdoor seating both at the front and (more quietly) at the back. They also have a traditional folk music session on Sundays from 4ish. Top stuff!
New owners have done a great job, really warm, welcoming, Gaelic atmosphere with great hospitality to match. So nice to enjoy live music again with a nice cold beer. looking forward to coming back and trying more of the delicious food.
