The hygiene standards are abysmal! The water glasses were dirty, the walls were disgusting, the floor and skirting boards clearly haven’t been cleaned in a long time and we were pestered constantly by flies which added to the whole evening being entirely unpleasant. In addition, one of the waiters was walking around with a tea towel over his shoulder, which is unhygienic in itself, but the tea towel was also visibly dirty and looked like it hadn’t been washed in quite a while. We ordered the oysters to begin with and were told they didn’t have any and hadn’t had for months. We then decided to pass on a starter and ordered the châteaubriand cooked medium rare. This arrived and was blue. We asked for it to be cooked more. When it arrived back at the table it was clear that it hadn’t even been moved off the board and only been placed under a heat lamp heated as it was in exactly the same position as we sent it back and one side was cooked more, but the other side was still under cooked. For the price point it was all well under par. Expensive, dirty, unhygienic definitely will not be returning and would advise to avoid!
Sunday lunch was beautiful. Staff friendly and service excellent. Reasonably priced for the quality of food.
Celebrated our Valentines here on Sat 4/2/23 (as it was the only kidfree opportunity this month). We had previously been to the "Newcastle Quayside" location for a brilliant experience. So expectations were high! And I'm very glad to say it was amazing! We were greeted by lovely smiley staff and seated straight away at our choice of multiple tables. Drinks order within a couple of minutes, food order taken on delivery of drinks. The food was excellent. Squid n Korean fish to start, (soz photos missing). Then wagu burgers, fries, onion rings and cheese n brisket hash for sides! !!! This is THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD from anywhere in the world !!! The sides were awesome also but the beef stole the show! Must try for yourself!! 5/5
Our mains came but they brought chips instead of the mash ordered, they apologised took the chips away but left the steak and veg, by the time they brought the mash the rest was cold so again they took it away to re heat leaving the mash so had to cover it or it would get cold. The food itself was OK certainly had better steaks in my life considering the price. Rest of meal was very good but staff are young and not professional and when bill came they had the cheek to automatically add 10%! When we left no one said thanks or goodbye they were just on their phones and hardly acknowledge us.
Food was amazing. Service was absolutely appalling! The app wouldn't let us book - saying fully booked but we called to double check and there was a table. Us and another couple were the only people in the whole restaurant. Starters came out after 1 hour, another 45 minutes for the mains. We had to ask for the table to be cleared on our third round of drinks as there was 6 of us (4 adults & 2 children) and the table was full of empty glasses. Not once were we asked if we wanted more drinks, we had to prompt each time. Not once were we asked how anything was... (not surprising). We were given hot plates for our sharing platter 15 minutes before the platter arrived so they were cold again. The beef dripping sauce looked like it had been sat for hours so we had to ask for some fresh to be made. The main dessert wasn't available. The other couple had gone about 1.5 hours before we left and their table still hadn't been cleared when we left. Considering it was only us and them I can't understand what the staff were actually doing! We asked for the 10% service charge they applied to be removed due to the non existant service we received. Considering the almost £300 bill you do expect a decent customer service experience.
