Always get a lovely bit of lamb and crispy potatoes but the sausages were really quite dry, happy they had parsnips. Good service from the chef friendly and chatty although we had to wait a while for the staff to come back out from the kitchen, maybe they were a bit understaffed that day? I'm sure will go back again and hopefully the sausages will be just right ,
The meats, potatoes and gravy were all good. The spouts were tiny and rock hard and the cauliflower cool (not in a good way). The staff were pleasant enough. Although the place was not especially busy, we were shown to a 2 person table tucked away with no lighting. Fortunately we were allowed to move. But guys, those two person tables are too small. Be generous. Would it have hurt to join a pair of 2 person tables? There were three joined next to us to form a 6 person table with no one using them. Eventually a couple of people were allowed to sit there though they were no eating. It's a restaurant, right? This is the second Toby Carvery I've visited and the second that has been an underwhelming experience. Could definitely do better.
Wife's beef was excellent. My lamb was dried up tough as old boots. When I showed it to our server who by the way was excellent in all other aspects. All I was told sorry and no offer of removing it off the bill! So sadly not a great experience.
This is the first time we have been here of an evening. We have been here a number of times over the years, but tonight we had the best carvery ever! The beef and the gammon were delicious, as were the roast potatoes in beef dripping. We were all tempted by the crumble for desert, which was amazing. Laura was a very friendly, helpful and looked after us really well. We will definitely come back more often
Excellent food as expected, unfortunately there wasn’t any lamb roast available, however it was delicious anyway. Long queue at the time we went in, which is rather a plus point, the food must be good if so many people join in for dinner. Service was brilliant as well, will surely come again!
