About us

The pub has a bustling, lively atmospheric pub created by the many charismatic locals who regard 'The Tuns' as their home from home; it serves a wondrous array of real ales from the adjoining brewery (XXX, 1642, Clerics Cure, Stout, Solstice, plus seasonal offerings.) It is unique in these days of super cooled lagers, in that 70% of all beer sales are real ales.

A restored and characterful function room sees everything from live music (jazz to rock to classical) to line dancing, Morris dancing, film club and even zumba classes!

In warmer weather, you might catch Morris dancing, live jazz or even a brass band playing in the courtyard. Alternatively, you can just chill out and relax, reading the papers provided or play any number of pub games – all helped by the absence of piped music and fruit machines, but watch out for any of the many festival weekends held in Bishops Castle, which bring in visitors from far and wide.

Food is a serious part of the business but in relaxed surroundings with a modern eclectic menu using locally sourced, fresh ingredients from many award winning suppliers. Our lunch and evening menus are available daily with children also welcome.

11 of us, a family group including a baby, had lunch in the Three Tuns last Thursday. Molly and Lucy looked after us brilliantly including taking a group photo for us.The food comes quite quickly and was excellent as is the beer. This pub does great steaks. The food is moderately priced. we had a big table to ourselves and enjoyed a very relaxed time. Couldn’t have asked for more!

We've been here a few times over the years and always enjoyed our food. It's a lovely old pub with its own brewery. Cosy and welcoming. Friendly service. Excellent food.

Well it must be the time of the year I hope. The place was cold, no burner on,yet loads of wood stacked up.(where we live, the fire is on whenever people in there or not). The beer was great. The food, well most of it on the menu was unavailable. I had the lamb steaks. As you can see by pictures, it was over done to say the least...my partner was OK with hers , I was very disappointed. Sorry but Worst meal in pubs all week.

Brilliant. Sunday roast done right. We were a table of veggies and meat people. Staff were very good to pick out the ordering of stuffing as none veg and the gravy as none veg. So thankyou for that. And the pint of three tuns! Beautiful

Went for lunch and wasn't disappointed! The food is excellent! There was a few options unavailable as they had a busy new year but still enough options to choose from. I started with the aubergine rolls which were delicious then the sweet potato burger. I'm not usually a huge fan of burgers that are made of vegetables but this was spot on. Full of flavour, fresh, homemade and the homemade chips and onion rings were perfect. My partner had the pate which he said was perfect in flavour, then the Welsh lamb steaks and said the dish was perfectly balanced with flavours, nothing was over powering other parts of the dish. Will definitely return for more culinary treats! Thanks for a fab lunch 😀
