An independent pub in the heart of the City, we serve highly drinkable ales and draught lagers from craft breweries like Timothy Taylor, Portobello Brewery, Beavertown and Stiegl from Austria. In Shakespeare’s day Bordeaux merchants lined Vintry Wharf and our wine list pays homage to them with its emphasis on Old World wines. We also champion grower Champagnes from independent vineyards and a selection of cocktails. Should you feel hungry, there's a daily bar sandwich, a choice of sharing boards and sausage rolls by the inch.
The bar is open from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Friday.
A real pub in city of London. Good atmosphere lots of people so must be good. One word of warning £2.50 for a small packet of peanuts. I don’t mind paying beer prices of £7.90 a pint for Something I have not had before.
The cheek off this place to call itself a gastro pub is astounding. I ordered the £27 Nicoise salad… it was utterly bland and basic. Zero love. No dressing… and when I asked I was handed bottles of some cheap vinegar and oil. No tobasco They serve “wraps and chips”. I’m summary - Nice decor, slightly moody waiter, they also got one order wrong and we had to chase it… overall - don’t go for the food.
Come for the staff, avoid the food. Service was very good and attentive however the food was very mediocre. Burger Buns that were like rocks and actual burgers that have little taste. Feel like if a Pub can’t get basics right it needs to be avoided
Went as a group of 10 on a Tuesday evening and had a lovely time. Even though we were sat out of the way up two flights of stairs the server was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and the wine recommended to us was also very good, would definitely come back here again.
Nice surprise!!! Lovely ambience, flavorful food!! Portions are BIG!!!! The hot dog comes as a small plate, really good, but quite big. Could be a main. The pie was so proper, heavy and filling! We’ll be back
