Had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Swan in Southwold. The food was so delicious and the service fantastic. Would definitely recommend for a special afternoon treat! Can't wait to find a reason to go again. Thank you.
For years we've enjoyed a coffee in the lounge here. That is until they revamped and 'walk ins' were not permitted. Thankfully they saw the error of their ways and allowed this again. We ordered coffee which arrived weak and tepid. We were not given a napkin and the coffee pot was extremely water stained. I wouldn't expect this in a high street cafe let alone The Swan. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience and one we're unlikely to repeat in the future. You can do much much better than this.
We had an amazing stay at the Swann Hotel. The staff were all excellent, very polite and professional. The hotel itself is modern and comfortable and the rooms were excellent. We stayed for dinner which was definitely 5 star. Thank you everyone at the hotel, we had a lovely stay and yes, we will be back again 👍
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Room was divine. Location as central as anywhere can be. Very good service and nice food too. Electric charging in the car park was a bonus. Minor gripe was no fresh orange juice at breakfast.
Frankly, The Swan needs to stop resting on its laurels. It’s getting to be a little worn and shabby and, six years after the renovation, the maintenance budget needs to be increased. We had a ´fabulous double’ room at the front – terrific view. But, after a few days, you begin to notice a few things that need to be renewed, or replaced: headboard stained from use; toilet handle that didn’t work properly; odd crease in the rug (which was there 15 months before, on our previous visit); unable to close window. Also, the Still Room carpet needs to be replaced. In terms of food, the Still room menu is too short for people staying more than a couple of days, and the Tap Room should have a simpler, cheaper menu. The cooked breakfast is not always as freshly prepared as it should be. The younger, seasonal staff need more training. Maybe I seem fussy, but we paid close to £2800 for a week, which is a considerable amount of money. My advice? The general manager needs to walk round the rooms once a week; longer menu; more training; more maintenance. Go midweek, off season, for a couple of days and you probably won’t notice these things. Great location; very friendly and cheerful staff and a real Southwold institution.
