Today is D-Day and we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dudley Stokes (pictured) who fought in World War ll and used what is now our function suite as a gymnasium during an exercise period from 1941 to 1945 with his fellow troops.
He shared his story that at this time an enemy mine exploded in West Bay and burst the windows of The Ingleton (now The Swan).
This was also around the time St Mildred's Bay was used as a British plane base.
To all who fought for our country, we thank you, and thank you to Dudley who travelled from America last week, visited The Swan and shared his story with us.
