Our Cygnet restaurant at the Swan Inn, Islip, headed by Paul Welburn our Chef Patron (previously awarded Michelin star at The Oxford Kitchen 2018), was awarded 3 AA Rosettes at the AA Awards 2023.
Our 'Cygnet' dining room is a space where you can enjoy an ever changing 2 or 3 course lunch menu, or a 4 course set-menu for dinner using seasonal ingredients.

The Swan Inn, a 17th Century Cotswold stone pub, resides in the historic village of Islip, Oxfordshire the birth place of Edward the Confessor. The pub which is steeped in history, saw a huge refurbishment during 2022 and has been lovingly restored and brought back to life.

Absolutely Marvelous, the food, the service, and some delightful art on the walls. We dined here for my partners birthday, with a 8month old baby and we could not have felt more welcomed. It was the evening of 29th December, so the restaurant was still looking festive with a 10ft Xmas tree dressed in white bright lights, and icicles hanging from the charming oak beams. The food was fantastic from beginning to end, my standout dish was the pork neck with, kohlrabi carbonate, the pork was melt in the mouth, a slight pickle on the kohlrabi to cut through the creaminess of the sauce, topped with what I believe to be parmesan. Let me also not forget to mention the drinks, a glass of the red, cotes du rhone, full bodied and well balanced on the palette, and we couldn't resist ordering a gingerbread old fashioned to share as I was driving. Overall an amazing evening, and I would definitely recommend.

Had a fantastic dinner here, the food was some of the best I have eaten in a long time (especially the version). Amazing flavours and dishes for a good price. My only criticism is the interior design - it needs a good refresh, feels tacky/cheap and brings the service and food down! If this was improved it would be the top restaurant in Oxfordshire without doubt.
We had a fantastic night at The Swan celebrating my mother in laws birthday. From the moment I walked through the door, nothing was too much trouble. Our cocktails were delicious, the serving staff were amazing at all times. Once we sat down to eat every dish came with a clear description and the wine pairing was explained perfectly. Compliments to the chefs for the lovely sample menu. Although it may be strange to mention, the plates and cutlery were particularly nice and I look forward to visiting again. Worth the visit from central London - incredible food & service! We recently visited the restaurant via train and were amazed by how scenic/convenient the entire journey was from both central London and Bicester Village. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with the overall ambience and service far exceeding our expectations. We selected the tasting menu (with wine pairing) and really enjoyed the presentation of every single dish. We loved how there was a story behind each dish, with a unique combination of flavours! Eager to return during Christmas - I can’t even begin to imagine how beautiful the main dining room will look like given the high ceilings and decorative lights.
