About us

The Swan Holme is situated very near the city of Lincoln, which has its roots in Roman times. At one point Lincoln Castle was the northern-most frontier of the Roman Empire, guarding a city with fine public buildings and paved streets. The perfect example of this heritage is Newport Arch, one of the gates into the city, which survives today as an illustration of what the Romans brought to Britain.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Really lovely atmosphere and very very good food. We chose 7pm on a Saturday night for 5 of us dining and consequently it was extremely busy. The fact that it was busy unfortunately meant slow service and it took just over an hour before we could even order our food. Not brilliant but with so few staff on and so busy only to be expected. This said the waitress was lovely and the food was beautiful. Would I come again? Absolutely without hesitation. Would I recommend the Swan? Yes definitely! 😊

Went for a midweek lunch. Chose the regular menu as opposed to the Christmas seasonal menu. I had the creamy oven baked mushrooms and Mrs D had deep fried Brie. The former was not particularly creamy and was served with lightly toasted bread but no butter so I felt it was all a bit dry. The Brie, while tasting okay, was not not as warm as expected but, again, tasted okay. For the mains we had the pie of the day (beef and venison) and the haddock fishcakes. Both were okay but neither dish blew us away. Not up to the standard I normally get at the Swan Holme but ‘okay’ and nothing to complain about. I think it may be that the menu was served alongside a Christmas menu for a large number of other guests took the edge off the normally higher standard.

Cosy warm and welcoming dog friendly bar and restaurant. Great for a warm drink after a Wintery walk or a hearty meal. Never gets old coming here. Beautiful decor and attention to detail. Love the doggy menu too! We only popped in for one drink and that's ok! Everyone welcome

First time here and I will definitely be back again- what a gem! Beautiful location with views over the lake. Really nice pub which was super clean and looked to be recently renovated. Great selection of draft beers, lagers and ciders and the roast was amazing! We were served by Jess who was lovely and personable, hoping she gets the credit she deserves. Would highly recommend!

Service = 1000000/10 !! Came to the area for a birthday celebration, booked a table of 3 and the dog! Was so happy to be given a real table not just a table in the bar like some places because of the dog. It was a Wednesday evening however, the atmosphere was as if it were a Friday / Saturday night ! Very busy which was lovely. It was clear the staff were under on numbers and it did show a little however, the staff on the floor who were taking orders and serving food etc I honestly could not fault there service one bit! It was clear they were rushed off their feet as it was so busy but their service was outstanding ! Thank you so much ! Shoutout to Louise who served us ! 👏🏻👏🏻 (name on the receipt, hope I’ve got the right name)
