This is not a place if you're a light sleeper. I stayed here 3 nights and didn't get rest at all. Bin trucks all night outside the back made it unbearable to be here. You cannot offer such a place to sleep unless actual proper isolation windows are installed
I decided to stay in Newcastle upon Tyne last minute due having to stay and work the next day. I called the hotel and they were very polite and gave me a much better price than online. Remembering you get what you pay for here it was really nice. The room had a double bed and it was fine. A desk, a wardrobe and tea and coffee making facilities. In the wardrobe there was an iron, hair dryer, heater and fan. The bathroom was fine and everything worked. The decor was a little old but as I said and the beginning, you get what you pay for. Parking was fine as the multi-storey car park couldn’t be closer as the entrance to the hotel is at the back and was free between 6pm and 8am. very happy and I’d stay again.
I must say after reading all reviews we were scared to go there but it was really nice and location of that hotel is spot on. Really close to metro + close to different pubs and clubs. We stayed there overnight for a Hen Night. Worth all the money we paid as rooms were tidy and also from 4 rooms they have managed to put 2 rooms next to each other. Also asked if we could check out later and we were supported on that. Reception was 24 hours and they have helped us out I the night with the keys. So definitely worth staying there if you are looking for close hotel to pubs and clubs and good price.
It's a great hotel for a cheap stay in Newcastle. Large rooms with comfy beds. A little noisy at night as Windows are a little thin so if you are a light sleeper maybe bring the ear plugs! Breakfast was tasty and fresh I a clean modern breakfast room. Staff were friendly and helpful couldn't ask for more from them. Outside is a bit off putting as it is dark and a little creepy but inside is fine.
I stayed here with a daily deal voucher and thought it was an *excellent* value for what we paid, but not worth the prices on the website. The hotel staff were super friendly and on their personalities alone I'll recommend this place. They're great with giving directions and making you feel welcome. They said the hotel had recently undergone refurbishments, and while the dining area looked fantastic, our rooms were in good condition but didn't look brand-new, and the hallways seemed very tired and some of the walls were in need of repair. Regardless, the Surtees is about a 10 minute walk from the station (which is great if you ask me!) and sits right atop a Brew Dog. Which I thought was bloody brilliant because they serve up some of my favourite craft brews.

A new beacon for craft beer has risen in the heart of Newcastle. And we are bringing in the big guns to Newcastle's beer party. Educating the natives to be fully fledged craft beer vigilantes; this is not a bar for the faint-hearted.

A place where Newcastle Brown Ale is enjoyed in its traditional form. And where you’ll also find vintage cocktails, tipsy teas, real ales, rhum masterclasses, private hire and an adventure around every corner…
