This is a popular and pretty entertainment pub with regular live music, good range of lagers and spirits and a large garden.
The Anchor was built in the late 1700s as a hotel, one of the first buildings to be built, when Knaphill grew rapidly due to the development of Brookwood Hospital. It was converted to a pub in the 1930s. Painted in a striking mustard yellow colour, the pub is now known as the 'Sandcastle pub' catering for a primarily local clientele, with a single real ale, not always available. There is small garden to the rear and live bands play every Friday evening. No food served.
I like the Anchor pub, had a good pool session in there a week ago with some friends. Always try and go in when I am in the area. Staff and locals are always friendly too, which is nice
I feel this pub doesn't get the love it deserves. It's a great free house with everything you could want from pool, fruit machines, lots of space and one of the best dart throwing spaces around.
Great food good location. Fantastic summer pub on the river and good for families and children.
Decent pub but the staff leave the back door open and allow people to smoke standing in the doorway. The whole place reeks of cigarettes and the air is filled with smoke. Ruins any good pint! Won't be going back.
Nice staff, terribly watered down pint. hard to get a bad vodka, tonic and lime but I did.
