About us

Welcome to The Barley Mow

Traditional Family Friendly Public House

Built in the 16th Century The Barley Mow has retained all of its original features combined with modern conveniences which together make the perfect setting for a traditional community pub.

Situated at the entrance to Hersham Village, The Barley Mow caters for all. We have live music every weekend, darts team and in house competitions which welcome all to join with the chance to win great prizes.

Come & Dine at The Barley Mow

At The Barley Mow the restaurant area has a relaxed atmosphere with an extensive menu to suit all. The Sunday Roast is not to be missed and booking is recommended.

We use fresh local produce in our ingredients for a better taste making all our meals mouthwateringly good. Our dining area is separate from the main bar too.

Beer Garden

Our large garden comprises of lots of seating with umbrella's as well as an enclosed heated area for the colder months. In the summer, we have the perfect space in our garden for a spot of sunbathing, whilst sipping on that well deserved cold pint of beer, refreshing glass of wine or the perfect G & T.

For the kid's we have a fantastic playground to keep them entertained.

Relaxing

In the cold winter months you'll enjoy the flickering glow and crackle of the real log fire, made all the better with great company. Although we are not a sports bar or anything like that, we do have plasma screens and will show selected games on Sky Sports.

The amazing food is let down by the lack of service. There wasn't a welcome as we arrived, we were just stared at blankly (we didn't know they were staff). Only two members of staff waiting on an entire restaurant during a busy Sunday lunch. No repeat drinks were requested, no checking how the food was. And that's even with arriving an hour before the main rush, those tables looked very fed up. A shame because the roasts were fantastic.

About 15 tables at the back of the bar and very good pub grub freshly prepared and cooked rather than defrosted and microwaved which is a change. There are vegetarian choices. Chef caters for individual requests too (did my seafood spaghetti with a tomato based sauce instead of cream). Small children's playground outside, plus a substantial covered area with TV outside for smokers. In front of the bar are armchairs and sofas and it is a dog friendly pub. Plenty of parking. Friendly welcome and good service. Wheelchair access.

This pub has it all: nice bar with an above average selection of beers and cider on tap, bar snacks to full meals, quiet conversation area and sports on TV, outdoor covered seating or garden, a dart board and a children's play area. Nicely decorated with photos of the area 60-70 years ago and bookshelves. The friendly staff make it a very welcoming place, with a fun atmosphere. On site parking makes it an easy choice.

6 of us ate here on Saturday 5th August after visiting a dear friend in a nearby hospice. From the moment we walked in to the time we left the whole experience was perfect. The service was fabulous and the food delicious and we are so grateful as we had had a really tricky morning. Thank you for being so kind and hospitable
