A great place for families and friends to share a meal, no complaints on the food side, friendly service and great for kids. This was my second visit while meeting friends with young children. Great to stop off after a day at Chessington or passing by.
Three of us met up for a pre-Christmas gathering and we were absolutely delighted with our experience at the Star. The staff were attentive from the get-go. The place was subtly decorated for the festive season. The menu offered a wide variety to cater for all tastes and dietary need. The food was excellent and good value for money. The atmosphere was pleasantly busy and we all remarked on the fact that whilst Christmas songs were playing in the background, the music was not so loud as to hinder your conversation. We will be going back.

The pub/family restaurant has a great layout of open space at the back, front and inside. Looks tiny from the outside but as a former school you know how spacious it can be. The Chicken Caesar salad I had was good however, it was flooded with the white sauce. It almost felt like cold soup at one point. Less would be perfect. According to my mate, their bangers were delicious. The staff were friendly and always checked every 5 mins if our food was alright and if we wanted more drinks. It would be better if they came every 10 minutes because it does interrupt conversation sometimes. Great location for a meal and drink especially after a briskly walk through the common.
