This was our second visit to the Bear and our roast dinners were very disappointing. The team had brought out burnt cauliflower cheese to the table in which we instantly asked them to take back for a replacement. One of the team muttered under their breath that it was caramelised, which was quite rude. When they returned, they brought back the same dish, but had scraped off the burnt and covered with more cheese. The pork belly consisted nearly of all fat, it was a very bad cut of meat. What we thought was a sausage, had turned out to be a burnt carrot. The roasts average about £20 per head, therefore had expected it to be tasty but in our experience, it was a complete let down. Burnt food and rude staff, would not recommend!

I have eaten at the bear many times before, and had my work team gatherings here! Often it’s been decent enough but I have to say that this time I was incredibly disappointed with the food! Firstly the gluten free options were very limited , as it was a Sunday (I was not told when I booked that the options were limited and there was a different menu on a Sunday)! We ordered burgers and for the two kids the burgers came out raw…. We asked to send them back and then they came back pretty much burnt! So the kids didn’t end up eating anything all night! They offered not to charge the kids meals, but in the end I’m not sure what I paid for as the bill came to 69 pounds which seems a lot for one adult burger, one risotto, two bottles of beer, a bottle of water and a tea!!! 🤔I didn’t see or request the receipt as I just wanted to go home! Just overly a very disappointing experience and won’t be taking my work team over there any more!
In my own personal opinion I think it's a tad pricey, but that isn't me saying it's bad at all! Every single member of staff was so wonderful and friendly, the food was delicious and portions are perfect!! It's just a very pricey place, I would recommend this for special occasions but not a regular, either way it was a wonderful experience and I loved my time here
Great food and atmosphere. Large selection of beers and ales on tap. Sunday roast was amazing and you should see the size of the Yorkshire piddings !! Starters were so tasty😋 we hired out a private room for a 30th birthday and it was perfect. All the staff made it extra special too 🥳
