About us

Amongst the grand old pine trees of Tilford woods, The Duke of Cambridge proudly sits.

For as long as many of the trees have been standing, walkers, locals and passers by have come to rest their feet and feast on local fodder. We firmly stand by this tradition: from the neighbouring farmer in the woodland who lovingly rears our meat to the hens that lay our eggs, only fresh wholesome food will grace your plate.

As the Seasons change and evolve so does the Duke. Those dreary autumnal days and long Winter evenings are compensated by an abundance of hearty seasonal produce that helps our Chef’s create a fantastic selection of rich, indulgent dishes. Of course they are best enjoyed next to the roaring open fire with a pint of dark fruity winter ale.

The warmer months of Spring and Summer brings our fantastic garden and terraces to life, perfect for enjoying a long cool Pimms with friends or a an alfresco dinner with the family. Whatever the season, the Duke of Cambridge is a pub to be savoured and enjoyed all year round.

Excellent food, gastro rather than standard menu, and a wide range of drinks. There is a huge outdoor seating area and ample parking.

My visit to the Duke of Cambridge left me with mixed feelings, as the atmosphere was undeniably pleasant, complemented by a good selection of food and drinks. The restaurant exuded a welcoming vibe, making it an appealing spot for various occasions. However, the dining experience was somewhat marred by the service, which unfortunately fell short of expectations. Despite the agreeable ambiance, I found myself having to get up repeatedly to seek attention from the staff. This aspect left me somewhat disappointed, especially considering my regular visits to the establishment. While I typically refrain from negative comments, I felt compelled to express this concern in the hope that it contributes to the improvement of the service quality. On a positive note, the desserts at the Duke of Cambridge were a delightful surprise. The flavors were rich, and the presentation was appealing, showcasing a culinary expertise that added a positive note to the overall dining experience. Another highlight was the availability of good parking space, making it convenient for patrons to visit without the hassle of searching for parking. In summary, the Duke of Cambridge offers a nice atmosphere and a commendable array of food and drinks. The desserts are a definite standout, and the ample parking is a practical advantage. However, the service issue I encountered is a notable concern that, if addressed, could elevate the dining experience to match the positive aspects the establishment has to offer. I share this feedback with the intention of contributing to the ongoing improvement of the Duke of Cambridge, a place I frequent and hope to see thrive in the future.

I'm sorry to say that so far as value for money is concerned there's a massive NO..... I'd have done better at McDonald's. Two of us fancied a meal at what looked like a good pub eatery. Not living in the area, we didn't know what to expect by way of value for money. My wife wasn't particularly hungry so she ordered a bowl of soup. When it arrived, it was in a tiny jug. The sort of size you'd get milk served in a high class coffee shop. The jug was half full. So she asked for a bit more to top it up. That was £6.50. I ordered sausage and mash. 3 barely cooked sausages, desert spoon of mash, some kind of cabbage, it looked like it had been under a grill because it had burned leaves. The cost of my meal amounted to £14.50.. 1Large coka cola £4.50 I know businesses are under pressure, but this was ridiculous.

This has to be the best Sunday roast I have ever had. The four of us all had different choices and the quality was incredible. We will be back as we were completely blown away by the food and beer. Update: Have been back today, even better. 2nd update: backs again for consistent quality.

We stayed next door at Tilford Woods Lodges and paid several visits to The Duke during our weeks holiday. The pub is a in a beautiful setting with great surroundings, the food and drink was top quality and came with a great service from all of the staff we interacted with. There is a lovely beer garden and children's play area which our son enjoyed greatly. We hope to come back one day!

We are proud to use the best fresh, local and seasonal produce, with much the produce that features on our menu coming from Tilford’s very own Meadow End Farm.

We believe that our food should be made from only the freshest ingredients our local land has to offer, from which we create wholesome, hearty meals to delight your appetite.
