A cosy, unspoilt pub serving real ale and competitively priced food! The owners are very friendly too. This was our first visit in which we stopped by for lunch during the Christmas break, but we look forward to returning for dinner in the very near future!

Really nice, welcoming pub. Not a gastropub, but the food was very good. Decent back garden, backing onto a huge field with children’s playground at the far end. Nice to find a proper, old fashioned pub.

I was dismayed to read KC's critical review of the Royal Marine, which is a traditional village pub whose landlord and landlady, Pat and Sue, could not be more welcoming and friendly. They also provide excellent food and beer at a reasonable price. The pub is small and intimate. The review gives a completely false impression. I was at the Royal Marine with my wife and disabled father in law at the same time as the reviewer and her party. It was sometime after they had arrived that I needed to go to the gents, which I could do only by clambering over their various baby equipment, which was blocking the route. I said nothing but the landlady obviously saw the situation and came over to speak to the ladies. She was the epitome of politeness and what she said was completely reasonable. My disabled father in law uses a walking frame and wheelchair. Wherever we take him he insists that his equipment is stored completely unobtrusively. Pat and Sue are excellent with him. We cannot recommend the Royal Marine highly enough.

An excellent unspoilt pub in an area where hyper-expensive gastropubs are the norm. Very traditional and charmingly scruffy. Good old-fashioned pub grub. A terrific lack of poncificatiion. Hurrah. Two ales of total brand mediocrity (Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA) but a very decent Goffs Lancer also available. No local ale which is a shame and worryingly a Sharps Brewery van in the car park sparking fears of Doom Bar horror.

Just stumbled on the Royal Marine on a rainy day in Brighton. They serve four or five well kept local beers on draught and the same number of top pressure real ales. The food is Thai and is very nice, our grandson was considered a bit young for Thai and the staff recommended we got fish and chips from over the road and they would serve our food when we came back. What a good way to run a pub, just love them.
