A family owned Free House run by Shelley and staff, offering genuine hospitality with the emphasis on simple, but great food and drink. Ideal for both the sunny summer months with a great front courtyard, rear patio area and garden, which also has a play area for the children. In the winter the roaring log fires are alight every day to welcome and warm you. The pub has two large well-lit car parks, disabled access and families are welcome.
Enjoyable late lunch with relatives. Good vegan/veggie choices. Generally we'll prepared and presented meals.plenty of parking beside this busy access to Dorchester Town.
Spur of moment decision to stop for evening meal - good menu - reasonable prices - good service - very pleasant staff - but - charged £50 more than cost of meal!!! - technical or human error???? Refund of £50 credited to payment card to arrive in 2/3 days ??? Outcome awaited …..!!!
Very impactful on entering, warm, friendly, & inviting. Unfortunately, the service was impersonal though functional. The food looked good but was bland - we had pie of the day 'beef & mushroom' 5/10. Summary Promising on arrival unsatisfactory on delivery. Atmosphere lovely for a pint & a chat. Will try somewhere else for food when in the area. I hope the landlord acts on the feedback.
Visited The Sun Inn whilst staying in a holiday cottage 5 mins walk away. We booked in for a second time that week because we enjoyed it so much! Highly recommend the carvery, it was delicious. Can’t fault the staff, they were all lovely and so attentive. Great atmosphere, and great pub in general. Would suggest booking in advance because it’s very popular.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Everyone was so polite and made you feel at ease. The carvery was delicious with a good selection of veg. Would definitely visit again when we are next in the area!
