Went to a birthday bash, fantastic atmosphere, bands on all day, service from the bar was excellent, especially considering the amount of people, just a great day 👍🏻
well we went in on Saturday 16th December it was very very busy as you can imagine round Christmas time but as usual the staff got the job done there where 16 of us and we didn't really wait to long to get served the bar is very nice and clean the staff are fantastic great service at the bar definitely worth a visit
This is a pub on Friargate in Preston. It is an "Irish" pub in some ways. It is popular with members of the Irish community in Preston. Also of people of Irish descent/background. It is popular with Glasgow Celtic football fans and there is Glasgow Celtic memorabilia in the pub. There is free pool on a Monday. It is a good pub. And if you are in Preston I would recommend a visit to the Sun on Friargate even if you are not of "Irish descent" or are not interested in football. Update Tuesday 29th March 2022: I went into the Sun Hotel in Preston last night Monday 28th March 2022 and it was a most enjoyable experience. The Sun Hotel in Preston has still got its Irish character. There are Irish flags displayed in the pub and it has a large selection of Irish music on the jukebox in the pub. There is a small outside area to drink in. The pub also has a pool table in it. It is cheaper than most pubs in Preston. For example a pint of San Miguel lager is £3.80 which is cheaper than you will get in most pubs in Preston. If you are a Glasgow Celtic fan the Sun Hotel in Preston is an ideal location to drink in. There is alot of Glasgow Celtic memorabilia in the pub. Celtic games are always shown in the Sun Hotel in Preston and are well attended by local Glasgow Celtic fans. The Sun Hotel in Preston also has rooms. I have never stayed there myself but I believe there are 5 rooms which are of good quality. It is also cheap to stay there and Dave the landlord of the Sun Hotel in Preston does a cheaper rate for long stayers. Point to note: The Sun Hotel in Preston does NOT take card payments. All drinks have to be paid for in cash. I am planning on going into the Sun Hotel in Preston this evening Tuesday 29th March 2022 at about 8pm. Tomorrow Weds 30th, Thurs 31st March and Fri 1st April I am visiting Belmont Abbey near Hereford which has an order of Benedictine Monks. It has an Irish character to it. There are Irish flags displayed in the pub. There is live Irish music on a Sunday evening and the jukebox in the pub has a good selection of Irish songs to choose from. My favourite Irish song is "Galway Girl". There is also Glasgow Celtic memorabilia in the pub. If you are a Glasgow Celtic fan it is a good pub to visit. A coach runs from the Sun Hotel in Preston to Celtic Park when Glasgow Celtic are playing at home. What makes the Sun Hotel in Preston so special is the regulars and staff. The regulars at The Sun Hotel in Preston are a very friendly bunch and with it being the Irish pub in Preston you will hear alot of Irish accents in the Sun Hotel in Preston. Also alot of people of Irish descent go into the Sun Hotel in Preston. The Irish guys are good to chat with in the Sun Hotel in Preston and I often talk too them about Ireland and they give me tourist advice about where to visit in Ireland. I am going to the Republic of Ireland in August 2022 to visit Wexford Co. and attend Mass at Churches in the Republic of Ireland. The staff in the Sun Hotel in Preston are great. Very friendly and nice to talk too. Dave the landlord of the Sun Hotel in Preston is a good landlord. Dave is friendly, helpful and approachable. The Sun Hotel in Preston has 5 rooms all en-suite and whilst I have never stayed at The Sun Hotel in Preston chatting to room residents in the pub I have never heard any of them complain about the rooms at the Sun Hotel in Preston. The Sun Hotel in Preston also has free wifi. I would recommend a visit to the Sun Hotel in Preston. Update Sunday 2nd April 2023: The free jukebox nights have changed. It is now a Monday and a Thursday. Update Monday 24th July 2023: Good pub in Preston. Cheaper than most pubs. It has a pool table. Jukebox. Beer garden. TVs to watch sport. No change.
In the heart of Preston this public house/hotel has a lovely garden and pub games. And a top quality darts team too 🎯
The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. The bar staff are great and the beer is never flat. Free pool on a Monday (if I recall correctly) which is great considering some pubs in the same area charge up to £1.50 per game.
