A Brief History.Sheena’s parents Geoff & Diana Smith were Licensees of the Bell in From 1992 and sold the Freehold in 1997.
In January 2011 After 14 years of neglect it was returned to the open Market with the Building being in a very sorry state of repair. After a 3 Month refurbishment including a total revamp of the kitchen facilities we opened the doors on 2nd July 2011. We have tried to return the building & Bars to its original state as far as possible to show off the beams and fireplaces.
Following several years successful trading The Bell has also undergone a further refurbishment in January 2015 including new comfy upulstered chairs and LED lighting.
We are pleased to announce we have 10 Bed & Breakfast rooms all with en-suite recently constructed and completed in July 2016. Ideal for if you are visiting Newmarket for Racing or Sales.

We've just had the most wonderful experience at the Bell Inn, amazing food, fantastic service nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed Mr Motown and what a brilliant atmosphere it was, thankyou all
We loved it here, 8 of our family all met up here for a Sunday lunch and we couldn't fault it. The meals came out for us all and then plate after plate after plate of vegetables and yorkshires and mash and cauliflower cheese just kept coming for us all to dig into and share around. It was fantastic and everyone really enjoyed themselves, all the staff were lovely and friendly. Its in a great location for us all to meet from our different directions so we will definitely be back
Rooms are small, just about fit a bed in, claustrophobic, couldn't swing a cat in it. It gets hot way too quick, although there is a fan provided makes loud noise because the room is so small. Middle of the night woke up to an awful smell of sewage (checked if if was pipe, it wasnt) and in the morning there was noone about to raise the issues. Restaurant was nice enough Ruby the waitress is a little gem. There was a lady walking round with a dog giving orders out to staff quiet abruptly ....... service although was slow myself and the husband didn't mind. Because of the size of rooms and the smell of sewage unfortunately we wouldn't return nor recommend.
What can I say! What a lovely waitress you have who appeared nervous. Not appreciated in my view and certainly of other customers who spoke to us later after our meal. The waitress was very apologetic about my meal so I couldn't thank her more. My meal had a bacon steak, chips and 2 eggs. Chips very over cooked, eggs well looked like they had gone out of date! And to the lady who came through to say "3 very well behaved children!" Very odd think to say out of the blue. After reading reviews I noticed the owner had made a response to a customer who was not happy. Apparently they do not tolerate loud ipads! Then clearly something needs to happen here as what about children with special educational needs. Who may come across loud! It needs room for big improvement!
