Welcome to the Halberd Inn
A warm welcome awaits you at the newly refurbished Halberd Inn in the heart of Ipswich on Northgate Street.
We offer a great range of world lagers, including Birra Moretti, Heineken, Amstel, Coors Light and Estrella, great tasting ciders from Orchard Thieves to Old Mout and Strongbow Dark Fruits.
You can also try our rotating craft ales, including Laine of which we offer a varying range which is seasonal. We also have a huge range of draught and bottled craft and pride ourselves on our real ales – just ask for a sample of our interesting flavours!
In addition, we have a fantastic range of wines from all around the world, mostly available by the glass. And if you are celebrating a special occasion, we have Romeo and Juliet as well as Laurent Perrier.
There is also an excellent selection of gin, perfectly poured with plenty of ice, fresh fruit and Fever-Tree tonics – just ask our bar staff for their special pairings.
Our kitchen is open six days a week, closed on Monday.
We are open Tuesday to Friday 12om till 3pm and 5pm till 9pm. Saturday 12p until 9pm and Sunday 12pm till 6pm. We offer a sports-themed menu with bucket deals and sumptuous handmade burgers.
We host all live sporting events on Sky Sports and BT Sport and have three huge screens outside for your viewing pleasure. All the live sport you can dream of is shown throughout the day, including all the top European and international football matches as well as the Six Nations!.

Looks like a tidy makeover from the days I remember it as an irish pub. While I miss that and on my visit the atmosphere was a tad below perfect this is a nice and friendly pub and would return
Visired on a quiet weekday lunchtime. Very friendly and welcoming. Good place to sit and relax with a beer or coffee and light snack or meal.
Enjoyed my visit to the Halberd Inn to watch Liverpool FC beat Crystal Palace. I had a nice burger meal although the tomato sauce that I requested never arrived, hence four stars instead of five for service; the meal was washed down with a lovely pint of Guinness both at reasonable prices. On this winter's day it was noted that the pub temperature was perfect.
Had an excellent burger here before now. Service is good. Nice atmosphere. Large because of the outside spaces which have roof coverings. Good place for watching sports, plenty of screens. Ideal for a drink before your table is free at Storico :-)
Totally taken back by how this place has changed for the better. Food menu was excellent and range of beers, wines etc very impressive. Staff were very considerate of the fact we had our youngest asleep, they kept the food warm and brought when we had finished our own (bravo).. Dog friendly, real fire close to town, Christchurch park, sky sports, good music too, what more could you want.👌😊
