Book your table, or get a reservation for Birthdays / Valentines & Christmas ASAP. I recently came across this gem, hidden in plane sight in Bury St Edmunds. Upon entry it is clear to see that much care has been taken into the design of the place and even more care into the quality of food. The Linden Tree already had exceptional food leaving 2023, but it has entered 2024 with an exciting tasteful menu (with more to come from what I've heard!). I was lucky enough to try the new Linden Tree burger, featuring signature bacon jam, and a flavoursome paprika onion ring that I would highly recommend blessing your taste buds with. With my last few experiences with their food, I would highly recommend booking a table for up and coming food events that will feature even more delightful dishes, as recommended by the Chef.

Advertised as Brie 'wedges' which is plural and would suggest more than 1 but when served only 1 slice of brie was presented - see photo.. It tasted ok, but for £8, portion size is somewhat disappointing, this was pre-ordered as well so no excuses really!

In such a tricky location you really need to be above average quality, cheap or providing something unique, but The Linden Tree doesn't succeed on any of those measures. In a place like Bury St. Edmunds with so many great restaurants there is just no reason to choose this one. We had a Sunday Lunch which for £16 I really expected to be cooked fresh but it was very clear that everything had been prepared the day before. We were also missing our cauliflower cheese which I had expected to receive a small discount for, but none was offered. Overall, disappointing and sadly unlikely to return.

Despite being very busy the staff were accommodating and managed to find my wife and I a table for lunch. I was surprised at how nicely decorated the interior is and the staff are genuinely helpful and cheerful which translated to an overall friendly atmosphere. I had the beef pie and my wife had the Duck confit. The food itself was nicely presented, very tasty and service was quick.

Very quiet when arrived. Found myself a table and had a drink and looked at menu. Great selection of drinks here, prices for drinks about average. Staff very attentive and welcoming and menu explained. Small dishes, priced well. I would recommend a main and 2 sides as portion sizes of each dish can be a bit uneven so if you aren't sure between 3 or 4 dishes, get 3. Food is served quickly if you needed anything more. Food was *excellent*, cooked perfectly, looked and presented perfectly. Would really recommend. Unusual location being a bit towards the edge of the main town but very close to nearby Premier Inn Hotel but 100% worth the visit. 👍 👍
