If you’re looking for one of the best and only traditional pubs in Kings Cross then you’re in the right place, we should know – we’ve been here before it was the place to be. Take a 5-minute walk behind Kings Cross station and you’ll find us – just opposite Granary Square. We’re not just about the drinks (although we’re proud to boast about our great selection of craft beers, cocktails and wines) we also have a fantastic kitchen hosting some of London’s best street food traders. We currently are joined in the kitchen by Thai wizards Krapow!
We’re three floors of jam packed action! On any given night you’re sure to find something to entice you from live DJs – Basement Jaxx used to have a residency here and Charlie Sloth even presented his Rap Show for 1 Xtra in the basement. Bands or comedy nights (Phil Wang, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders and many other household names have all worked our funny bones). So whether it’s the function room upstairs, the back of the pub on the ground floor or our basement club area and let’s not forget our weekly Tuesday night quiz! If you’re like us and don’t want the party to end you can always book out our upstairs airbnb, because then the fun doesn’t have to stop.
Great spot for a group night out, even if you can't yet a room, the lay out means they can always allocate a good space to you that you don't have to work too hard to defend. Always feels like a good crowd, no aggro, etc. (Mine was leaving do, 40 people). Food is good, decent selection of things, burgers, tacos, etc, and doesn't seem to take too long to arrive either.
Great venue. Nice to have a bit of a traditional vibe in the now ultra modern Kings Cross area. This is one of the few old buildings that survived the regeneration. A busy bar with a great club/music venue in the basement. Bar staff up-stairs that I saw did have rather long faces on for some of the evening which was a shame, but otherwise, good place.
Good beers, great staff and nice place to drink. Food was disappointing with tiny portions. The cheeseburger is the size of a slider, tasted good but was over in about 3 bites. DJ started a bit too early, cleared the back section almost instantly at half 8. Our group of 9 just left to go to another pub. Wish they'd started an hour later and we would happily have spent on a couple more rounds at least. He sounded good too but just way too early for a night in London.
The Star of Kings is a trendy spot with a welcoming atmosphere, conveniently located near the Coal Drops Yard centre. With a Mexican-themed menu and hosting live events, it's a great place for a vibrant and enjoyable night out.
Popped in here for the first time on a Friday afternoon and really liked the place. Really attractive decor, two rooms, and a lovely enclosed seating area out front. Beer is craft, rather than cask, but supporting primarily local breweries. Friendly staff too. The karaoke in the evenings doesn’t appeal, but each to their own!
