We had our Christmas party at the Star this year. We were a table of 16 and we sat near the fire. The food was delicious, generous portions and the service was fantastic. Huge thanks to the team for hosting us, we all had a lovely time.
Lovely views, welcoming staff and good food although a bit pricey. Once all of the updating work has been finished it'll be a gem. Well worth a visit.
The Star on the Hill is a bit tucked away in the countryside. The Food was fantastic, the drinks are reasonably priced. The service delivered as expected and the owners are very friendly. The decor, whilst still undergoing some updating, is really nice. Would definitely come back if in the area.
My family went for lunch on a quiet Thursday in June. Their customer service was spectacular. They were attentive and made great recommendations for ale and desserts. I had a local ale called Butty Bach that was delicious and refreshing. They have children food options, which were good for my 2 picky eaters. We all had toffee pudding for the first time and can highly recommend trying it. Outside dining was nice due to the pleasant weather and views of the countryside. I had the daily special of sea bass that was delicious.
My Dad took me here back in November. We were warmly welcomed and the staff were great during the whole lunch period. Unfortunately the restaurant/pub feels cold, they really need to light all fires as it’s an old building and the floors and hard etc. The food, which was really why we were here was very good. My biggest niggle is that I wish restaurants (not just this one) would put your food on a bigger plate! (You could say ‘or give you less’ but I’d just prefer a slightly larger plate please!) My Steak was excellent, and cooked properly, the sides were also very good, although a whole small vine of tomatoes probably looks better than is actually needed. My fathers was just as good and we would certainly return here, but maybe in the summer months when it’s a bit warmer.
