A traditional, local pub in the centre of the beautiful Peak District. Happy hosts Gerry, Judy and family offer a warm welcome to all who find their way to this family run pub. After a long day exploring the area it's the perfect place to relax with a wide range of lagers and real ales. There are also three letting rooms available at reasonable prices with a bed and breakfast service. If you're hungry the menu offers a wide range of traditional pub food including delicious curries and soups. We hope to see you soon!.
Loved this pub, friendly and prompt service, and delicious food, and great value, what more could you want. I had the Turkey, Ham and Leek pie, it was the best I've ever tasted. Definitely worth a visit.
We were staying in a cottage just up the road from The Star Inn, and after we arrived, we called in here for something to eat. The food was delicious. My husband had one of the homemade pies and said it was one of the best he had tasted. This also goes for the sticky toffee pudding. Lovely busy place and the owner and staff were really friendly and made you feel very at home.
We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening, with our two dogs. It's a really friendly "proper pub" where regulars chat and put the world to rights. The staff are very good at making people welcome. Food was proper pub grub, I had Cumberland sausage, they were very tasty, served with perfectly creamed mash and fresh veg. Gravy was just right, too. I've taken one star off because the Yorkshire pudding was served filled with gravy, which made it soggy not crisp. My wife had the vegetable curry and said it was also very good. There's a limited choice of real ales but the Star Inn Bitter was in excellent condition and very tasty. The next day we walked past with the dogs and one of them was determined to go back in, he obviously approved too.
If you’re on the fence between places - come here! Jonny is an incredible host with stand out service. Nothing is too much and squeezed us in at a moments notice on a very busy night when another pub (The George) wouldn’t take us for dinner when we were 10 mins late. Smiles everywhere at the Star Inn - pies are highly recommended
Loved this place! Stopped 2 nights on the trot as right next to our digs. Ideal. Fitted us in on a Wednesday even though real busy. Place like this you want it to be cosy, welcoming, decent food and decent value. Ticks all the boxes, Menu not extensive but was really well done. Several vegetarian options also. We arrived mid-week on 'pie night' - awesome. Home made pies were great - we had same next night which just shows! Steak and Stilton, Ham and Leek. Thoroughly recommend. What makes this place stand out is how welcoming it is - from the locals to the staff. Several younger members of staff are happy to chat and very friendly. Whether that's how they are in general or if Johnnie the landlord encourages it - well done. Truly makes a difference. Hopefully be back someday. Thanks.
