The Standing Order is a large Wetherspoon's pub on George Street in the heart of Edinburgh. The interior has a very high ceiling and ornate decor as it was formerly a bank - hence the pub name! 😀 It has a large range of beers and typical pub grub at reasonable prices. The toilets are reached by going down a relatively long, narrow stairway. There is a toilet for those with mobility problems on the ground floor. Despite the bar being very large it can takke a wee while to get served as the number of staff is low.

Hot Chocolate Reviews

Another cheap instant hot chocolate, tends to fare better than others due to the low price and free refills, however was sorely lacking in consistency, with the bottom being clumpy to the point I couldn't finish the drink. The overall chocolatiness was poor, seemingly too little cocoa powder was used and so the drink tasted mostly like vaguely chocolatey milk. 3/10

The pub has a lot of seating, but is always full with customers. Very nice interior with high ceilings. There is a very large variety of beers and other alcoholic beverages. There is also a food menu, but most people just seem to be drinking☺️

Great choice of beers and the usual value for money on food and drinks, absolutely gorgeous building (previously a bank) and don't miss the chance to see the original chubb bank safe in one of the rooms.

Great Spoons venue in a magnificent old bank. The architecture is amazing inside and out. Good quality and good value for money. A pizza with haggis chillis and pepperoni made my day As usual the toilets were about as far from the bar as possible, this time being downwards in the cellar half way to the centre of the earth.
