About us

We have also turned the large, sheltered beer garden into an urban oasis and when the rays decide to grace Orsman Road, it's a perfect sun trap. During the warmer months hog roasts are hosted in the garden and DJ's set up outdoors to provide the soundtrack to the summer.

Situated on the edges of the Hoxton, Shoreditch, Dalston and Islington borders, The Stag's Head is at the heart of London's most vibrant areas, yet it offers something very rare to find in the surrounding boroughs where the loyal regulars and those new to the area rub shoulders in a relaxed and friendly environment enjoying the unpretentious reasonably priced drinks to include cask ales.

A little known gem just off Kingsland Road… not only does it have live events throughout the week, the food is above average pub grub. Of course none of that means much unless the place has personable and efficient staff behind the bar and a welcoming atmosphere, which this place does… time well spent

Great pub, proper old style boozer with music. 3 stars because the pizza was diabolical. Dry. Fair enough the menu is not very pricey, but I’d rather pay an extra couple of quid for a pizza base with some love in it, come on now.

Went to a music event, the pub has a decent music room with good lighting, good sound and a high ceiling for a change. There is some seating round the edge for those less able. There is also a food offering which looked good and pricing was not outrageous unlike some other places. The table and chairs were perhaps a little to close together. Bar service was quick and there was the normal lagers and IPA's but no craft beers, pricing was on the high side. Would have given five stars but knocked one off as there was no loo paper, this is basic stuff. The loos though are all on one level.

The Stag’s Head is a real hidden gem, tucked away on the corner of Orsman Road and Halcomb Street in Shoreditch/Hoxton. This historical pub not only has a great selection of craft beers and delicious food, it also hosts live music nights most days of the week and has a huge heated beer garden. We came for Phil’s Open Mic, as it turns out Phil, the host has won not one but two Grammy Awards and he used to work with none lesser than Bob Marley, Phil Collins, Cher and many other famous musicians. The music and the atmosphere was phenomenal! We also tried the food, most of the menu consists of traditional pub food, but there are a few dishes which you wouldn’t expect in a pub. We had a Hungarian Goulash and a Beef Curry and both dishes were delicious. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for the area, all the main courses are between £9-£13, there’s literally nowhere in the area where you would get such a delicious meal for so cheap!!! Maria, the manager also told us that the pub, being a listed building is often chosen for shooting location of famous movies. Among them Legend with Tom Hardy and My Policeman with Harry Styles was shot in The Stag’s Head. We had a fabulous time, and would love to thank the lovely staff and the manager Maria, for looking after us, and for the excellent recommendations! I’m definitely coming back soon!
