Very hospitable host and lovely home cooked food! Price and service was outstanding! Will definitely be back
We called in on spec on Sunday evening after damage was caused to our car and we were on our way home. The meal service had stopped. However, Steve the landlord, insisted on getting the kitchen to make us something. For which we were extremely grateful because, we'd been in our way out for an evening meal. This was such a kind gesture. We had chicken wraps, really fresh salad and chips. Followed by a lovely apple crumble and smooth delicious custard. I cannot express how grateful we were for Steve and all the staffs warm and wonderful welcome. This is the first time we've been back since they took over in August 2023. We definitely recommend and will be back.
Please note…the pub has new owners and they are lovely, welcoming and food lovely. However, the option to book online is from the previous owners. They only take phone bookings. If you book online, they won’t know about it. The owner was telling me how bad he feels when they have guests coming from far away that have booked online and can’t be accommodated. They cannot remove the previous owners listing on Google.
Visited yesterday 15th October 2023 new owners have done the pub / rooms to a high standard the decor is beautiful the kitchen was up and running yesterday for the first time my sister and I ordered the roast lamb dinner and it was beautiful the lamb melted in your mouth and there was every type of vegetable possible,only criticism would simply be thicker gravy but that's my personal preference.The owners couldn't do enough for us they were very friendly and extremely welcoming desert was apple pie and my sister had sticky toffee pudding & ice cream these were also delicious 😋 I would highly recommend this place and I wish the new owners all the very best with there new venture it's a credit to you both best wishes Mrs Distant
We stopped for coffee on the way to the Peak District and what a lovely lady served us delicious coffee and a free biscuit. Very good value. They've just taken over the place and although it needs work, the place was spotless, clean toilets and a decaf cappuccino. Please do visit them and help them in their new venture
