Really nice Ale House with a nice selection of guest ales 🍺. No noisy music or televisions in the back ground allowing you to put away mobile phones enjoy a pint or two whist partaking in that ancient art of conversation. I recommend you try it 😉

In Burton God said let there be beer. And God saw the beer, that it was good. And in this pub there is good beer by the artisans of Burton Bridge Brewery who are Salsa's... It has clean modern decor with rustic touches. A worthy place to stop after some Viking bashing and you can hand in your cudgels to the landlord for safe keeping.

By chance, and third time lucky, we had lunch at The Alfred today as our two previous choices were closed. What a great find. Initially we were disappointed to find the pub was fully booked for lunch but the staff were able to find room for the six of us, what a relief. We each had the Sunday roast and it was lovely. Tasty hot food that was very much needed after a wedding party the previous evening. The pub is typical of a traditional style, no loud music or sports and we were given a warm greeting and great service. Highly recommended but best not leave it to chance and book in advance.

The Alfred is a cozy, rustic neighbourhood pub in the residential area of Burton-on-Trent (when you're leaving the station, turn left over the railway bridge, then right into Derby Street), and certainly a great option in this part of the town. The beers served are by Burton Bridge, a local brewery, and there are guest ales, too. The Alfred offers a small pub food menu each for lunchtime and dinner, of which I picked the ploughmen's board (available in small and large) at a very competitive price. It was tasty and freshly made. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is just nice. Recommended!

A two room bar acting i believe as tap for Burton Bridge Brewery who have some nice beers. Also guest beer on tap.
