The Stable Bar, as befits its name, has a somewhat rustic ambience, and retains many of its original period features such as the sloping flag floor and the horse stalls, in which customers now sit amidst horse tack & hay rack.
Commanding superb views over Monsal Dale, a valley in an area of Derbyshire’s Peak District known as the White Peak, the Monsal Head Hotel offers guests real food, with well priced seasonal menus, real ales from local micro breweries, a large outdoor seating area, and 7 en-suite bedrooms. The Hotel and Coaching Inn are in one of the most popular beauty spots in Derbyshire, with views over the valley and its famous viaduct, and a short distance from Chatsworth Estate, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock.
Nice food outside stables bar, didn’t take too long to come (though it took ages on my previous visit). Stables bar itself was closed so one had to order inside the main hotel. It’s not actually a great place to sit on a summer’s evening because it is shaded from the evening sun so can cool quickly.
Outside waitress was very good, food was OK. The old guy behind the bar was terribly rude. Your atrocious behaviour has been mentioned several times already in these reviews. As a word of advice, take a good look in the mirror and either clean up your attitude, or switch to a job where you do not have to socially interact.
Lovely place(a converted stables) with a wood burner, and tables in the old horse stalls. Good range of beers. Menu is a bit limited though (but tasty enough and they can cook steak medium rare!) and if you are at all unsteady on your feet it's a nightmare of a surface to walk on as the floor is also the original cobbled stable floor with a shallow 'drain' not making things any easier. Good place for walkers and welcomes well behaved dogs. Lots of parking and if you set foot outside there's a cracking view! Good in summer as there's lots of outdoor seating.
Very unique bar with a lovely fireplace that actually works! Chill vibe and reasonable price.
Nice cosy public house with character and cheerful, friendly staff. The food options look good and the view across the valley is incredible.
