The Victorians knew a thing or two about relaxing by the sea. Our lovely luxury hotel opened in 1854 and today, while we’ve made a few changes, the things that were a hit back then still delight our visitors today: excellent service, incredible sea views, and surroundings so comfortable you won’t want to leave. There’s nothing old fashioned about that.
We came to the NYE gala yesterday. We were surprised (?) that the majority of people attending were over 60 years old. It wasn’t advertised as such. We paid £96 each for the dinner and we were disappointed to be offered just one single canapé on arrival. The food was ok but not worth £96, the main meal in particular was really average. For that price I also expected being able to have pudding and cheese and not have to choose between one or the other. The drinks were also super expensive (£22.5 for two double spirits and mixers) and we are far from London! I would have expected a glass of Prosecco at midnight but none of that. What we did enjoy was the piano man, he was very good. Overall we managed to enjoy our evening but I don’t know if I’d recommend it to anyone under the age of 60. It’s not a place for young people.
Stayed in the roof top rooms for my birthday! Wow! Absolutely lovely! The food was great and the staff were all friendly. Can definitely recommend 😍
We stayed here one night and could not be happier with our stay. The hotel itself is lovely. Can’t beat the location with it’s proximity to the water, food and shopping. The room was very comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay here again. Loved it!
From the minute we arrived we got the relaxed feeling. The staff were all fantastic very friendly and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. When we were allocated our room it was obvious to the receptionist that it wouldn’t be suitable we were sent to have a look and our luggage arrived at the door the member of staff who brought it up also said it wasn’t suitable and to speak to reception by the time I arrived down there the receptionist was sorting out another room this room was great so suitable. Room changed without any drama. We were booked for dinner every meal we had was absolutely fantastic we enjoyed everything we ate. Breakfast was also great. The room was lovely and clean as was the whole hotel. We can’t wait to go again. Thank you to the St George’s Hotel for making our stay just perfect and what we needed with what has happened to us this last three months and still on going.
Nice location. Pretty hotel. Our balcony had great views. The shower was very small. There was food on the carpet when we got in our room. Limited parking, so get there early. Early check-in was not available. Breakfast was nice.
